A Serious Post on the War
So in the past few days all that I've been talkin' about with people has been the war and everyone's opinions on it.
So I am gonna give you mine here, read it if you want, don't read it if you don't want to. First I just wanna say before you say I am stupid or I am wrong, turn on the news, read a newspaper, go to a news website, do something to educate yourself about what's goin on because if another pro-war person tells me I am wrong and doesn't know a damn thing about anything goin on I swear I will slap them. Here I go:
- I am against this war. Maybe "was against" is a better term. See I figure the damage is done in the court of world opinion, the war started, everyone hates us already, we might as well blow up Sadam now.
- A lot of people for the war seem to think that just because I am against it that I am anti-America or pro-Sadam or pro-terrorists. This couldn't be further from the truth. I just think that there is a better way to solve this problem. I think the end-result of going to war without UN approval and with so many countries against us could very well be very disastrous for our country.
- My main problem is that the world can not be run in a state of possibilities. What I mean is if every country acted like us and started a war with every country that may have weapons and may possibly attack them one day the whole world would be in a constant state of either bedlam or a total dictatorship. Every country has the possibility of attacking another, just like most countries have nukes. That is why systems like the UN are setup, to keep all out war from breaking out and when a country says "Screw You, I do what I want" to those groups it undermines the authority of these groups and pretty much tells every country to act the same way. Oh wait, every country can't because the UN is setup so that it's bias to the victors of WWII and the US would smack the shit out of another country if they did what we are doing now.
- Some people say this war is to protect the world. That's an easy point to refute........they don't want our help. The world is against this war, hell most of Americans are against this war and since when do you or America in general decide what is best for the whole world; I hope most of the country isn't that vain to think we know what the world wants more than they do. If Sadam is gonna blow up a country in 10 years and they don't want our help now, let them blow up in 10 years, I wouldn't give a shit.
- I may be wrong. I have no problem admitting I may be wrong. If we didn't do this maybe Sadam would be the next Hitler, and I would have egg all over my face or worse Sadam could have ended the lives of the people I love and care about. However; there is no proof he would have or could have either, the only result we will know of exactly is the course of war, the countries that were once our allies loathing us, and the outcome of all this that we have yet to see (Korea warning us of severe implications for attacking Iraq). This is what I truly fear: many countries attacking us because of the same reason we attacked Iraq, "The US said we are evil..look what they did in Iraq, they could come and do that here. We need to stop them before they do that"
- A friend (I hope she doesn't mind me posting this and doesn't get mad that we have different opinions) posted this in her online journal: "Doesn't anyone remember September 11th??"
Yes I do, does anyone else? Does anyone else remember how after that happened almost the whole freakin' world was an American supporter? Does anyone realize that we took that almost universal support and turned into almost universal hate for our country?
Another point in the same topic, we have no proof whatsoever that Sadam is linked to those attacks. Bush says he does but refuses to show it. What the fuck is that? If there is proof anyone in their right mind would show it because it would gain us world support and all these countries would support us again because we are going to war for a reason.
Finally I just reiterate that I am not pro-Sadam and if you think my criticizing the government is anti-American you truly know nothing about this country. My questioning of the people in power is possibly the most American thing I can do, don't you remember that we are "freeing" Iraq to give them the ability to do what I just did and speak out against their government without being looked down upon or punished. Also, I know I may be wrong and the people with the opposite view may be totally right, but also I could be totally right and them totally wrong.............only time will tell and until then anyone that wants to debate this (not yell at me about it, just talk about it) I am more than open to cause I love to talk about it as you I'm sure you can tell from this HUGE post. I hope you all enjoyed it.
